1. How long have you been using Social Networking for your company?

I guess it depends on what you consider social networking. I started on Ebay in 2002, and have been an ebay PS since that time. I used to post on the various Ebay boards, and i considered that Social Marketing.I then moved on to MySpace.com, although I didn’t fully embrace it.
2. Is your business using Facebook &/or Twitter?

Yes, my business is on both facebook and Twitter.

3. Facebook vs Twitter – do you like one better? If yes, why?

I really like facebook, because i get instant response. I feel that twitter lost it’s touchability factor when the celebrities started using it for marketing. I do like the access to people and businesses i would never have access to without twitter.

4. Do you post daily?

Yes.

5. What is your favorite thing about Social Networking?

I like the instant access to my client base. I am not good with newsletters, but i can instantly get our new products and information into the hands of my customers with facebook. On a personal level, I have gotten back in touch with many of my friends from high school and college.

6. What do you think is the biggest benefit of Social Networking?

The ability to reach out to new vendors, expose my brand to the whole country, the ability to get higher ranking in the natural search.

7. How do you measure Social Networking, & explain: ROR – Return on Relationship-We have people everyday who post on our facebook page, call us, or come into our retail boutique and tell us that they saw certain items on facebook. We are able to measure popularity of certain items based on the comments. We were able to reach out to our customers and showcase our Christmas items in September thru Facebook.

8. What is the best moment you’ve had on a Social Networking site?

I felt like i had met a rockstar when i was able to get in touch with an artist that licenses her images for one of our products. We were able to get her to directly sell us some of her items, and just exchanging emails with her was so exciting!

9. What is your best piece of advice to other businesses about Social Networking? Do not ignore it. Also, when your customers or other people reach out to you, respond quickly. People want to know that you are sincere, and that you aren’t just doing it for the return. If your customers can sense that you truly care, they will gain trust. People are more likely to give you a  chance to earn their business, if they get the sense that you truly care about their opinions, and business.
